The iconic city, the Ex-capital of the country, Pakistan's biggest city from every aspect that one could talk of, Karachi, is not only unique and incredible for its skyscrapers, it's flourishing business, the artifacts, its infrastructure, but the city is a wonder of its own magnitude. Karachi is rich, not only finanacially but culturally as well. It's traditionally healthy and ethnically wealthy. The ancient names of Karachi included: Krokola, Barbarikon, Nawa Nar, Rambagh, Kurruck, Karak Bander, Auranga Bandar, Minnagara, Kolachi, Morontobara, Kolachi-jo-Goth, Banbhore, Debal, Barbarice and Kurrachee. The Greeks recorded the place by many names: Krokola, the place where Alexander camped to prepared a fleet for Babylon after his campaign in the Indus Valley; Morontobara, from whence Alexander's admiral Nearchus set sail; and Barbarikon, a port of the Bactrian kingdom. Debal and Bhanbhore were the ancient port cities established near present-day modern city of Karachi. It dates back to the Scytho-Parthian era and was later controlled by Hindu Buddhist kingdoms before falling into Arab possession in the 8th century. In the 13th century it was abandoned. Remains of one of the earliest known mosques in the region dating back to 727 AD are still preserved in the city.
Karachi is the most populous city of Pakistan, found in the province, Sindh. It lies on Pakistan's southern coast, on the Arabian Sea just northwest of the Indus River Delta. It consists of coastal plains and is Located at Latitude 24.8 and 67.01 longitude with an elevation of 8 meters above sea level with an area of 3,780 km² and Population of 14.91 million. Not only the financial but also the industrial capital of the country, Karachi is the hub of overseas trade between Pakistan and Central Asian countries. In line with its status as the major port of the country, it is famously known as The Metropolitan City. In Karachi you will find every ethnicity, every culture and every religion, all blending together. Frere Hall, Empress Market and St. Patrick’s Cathedral include the well-known tourist attractions. Home to the father of the nation, the great Mausoleum of the great Quaid-e-Azam is a beautiful site. The city of Karachi is famous not only for its rich culture but for its night life as well. The beaches of Karachi are the perfect places to spend your evenings at. The city overall is a treat to visit, excepting the traffic at some busy places, of course.
