Traveling to a new country always seems like a lot of work. From deciding where to stay and what to visit, some people just get tired. But it is one of the best activities that you can do with your spare time. An opportunity to meet new people, explore new places and see different cultures would give you the boost that your brain needs. Undoubtedly, there are many beautiful places on our planet earth. One of these places is Phuket Island, situated in Thailand. The province of Phuket has 32 small islands, each one more beautiful than the other. Let us take you on a walk through some of its amazing tourist attractions.
1. Patong Beach
Patong Beach is a 3 km long beach of golden sand and blue water. Initially, it used to be an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. However, increasing tourist attention has made it a famous and crowded place throughout the years. It has a row of coconut, palm, and almond trees that separate the beach from the road.
On-site, you can experience water sports such as parasailing and jet-skiing. You can also bathe in the sun and have a masseuse massage your body while the sea waves give a peaceful sound in the background. It also houses several beachfront restaurants and bars offering traditional and international foods. In the northern part of the beach, a hidden small water creek gives a beautiful view of shallow and clear water in the high season. The perfect time to visit is between November and April when the sea is calm.
2. Kata Beach
Kata Beach is a 1.5km long golden sanded beach and is considered one of the most beautiful beaches all over Phuket owing to the facilities and activities it provides. Tourists can enjoy soaking in its sun with the sound of a peaceful sea right beside it, as it is usually not very crowded. It hosts a premier sailing event every December, known as King’s Cup Regatta. People like to visit it during the western monsoon season, owing to great surfing on the higher waves. Other water sports include parasailing and snorkeling.
3. Karon Beach
Karon beach is comparatively less developed than Patong and Kata beaches. It is situated 15 minutes away from Patong Beach and is stretched to 3.5 kilometers with golden sand and sapphire sea. During calmer weather, it is a perfect spot for a swim. However, when the winds become intense, big waves become common, making it a bit dangerous. Along the beach, several restaurants and resorts are present with luxury bungalows and private water parks.
4. Phuket Town
Phuket Town is located on the south-eastern coast of the island. This island city sees a lot of hustle and bustle due to its many hotels, restaurants, massage parlors, and many other tourist attractions. Its architecture is a mixture of a Portuguese aesthetic and the influence of Chinese immigrants. It also provides an interesting contrast to the traditional Thai styles of architecture. The streets of Old Phuket Town are packed with several well-preserved shop-houses, mansions, shrines, and temples. Other wonders in this town include the Phuket Trick-eye Museum with an interactive 3-D art gallery and the Jui Tui Shrine, a temple of many colors.
5. Phuket Big Buddha
Phuket Big Buddha is one of the most distinctive landmarks of Phuket. It is situated on the Nakkerd Hills between Kata and Chalong. This statue was constructed in 2004 and it is faced with white jade marble. Once you get to the peak, a beautiful 360° view greets you, along with this 45-meter-high monument. It is a very peaceful spot if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The sound of prayer flags fluttering in the cold breeze mixed with the small bells tinkling make up for a peaceful and soulful experience.

Rawai is a small village situated on the east coast of Phuket. Here you can get a glimpse of the lifestyle of the Moken tribe (also known as the sea gypsies). The people of this tribe have their roots in the Nicobar and Andaman Islands and they have managed to preserve their beliefs and customs. Some of them live by the sea and the others have chosen a life on the land. Men of this tribe usually work as fishermen, and sometimes as the local tour guides for sea trips. The sliver of the village is surrounded by swamp oaks, coconut palms, and fishing boats. It is also well known for its small fish harbor and seafood markets, where you can easily find freshly captured and cooked seafood on order.
7. Karon Viewpoint
Also known as the Three Beaches Hill, Karon Viewpoint is an amazing vantage point situated to the south of Kata Noi Beach. It gives you a view of three amazing beaches including; Karon Beach, Kata Yai, and Kata Noi. On the north of the viewpoint, you can easily view the panoramic views of blue seas, emerald hillsides, and white surf. This is one of the most beautiful points of Phuket.
8. Wat Chalong
The island of Phuket has almost 29 temples. Out of these temples, Wat Chalong is the largest, most beautiful, and most popular one. This temple is dedicated to two highly reputable monks; Luang Pho Chaem and Luang Pho Chuang. Here, you can witness their life-sized wax models and other figures. As you take a walk around the temple, you will be able to witness several golden Buddhas in several poses. The tourist women are required to cover their shoulders and knees and shoes are not allowed inside.
